Description

The HDAP Solutions Architect is responsible for assessing the existing platform and analyzing current, new technologies and what needs to be developed to provide the best solutions for current and new platform customer needs. This person also works with HDAP Leadership, Product and Operations teams to create and constantly update a overall strategic technical vision for the platform. The Solutions architect is responsible for monitoring the progress and working on changes needed as the platform capabilities mature and new customers are onboarded. This role will capture both capturing both technical and non-technical stakeholders need ensuring that those needs are the focus of the scope. 
 
Key Responsibilities 

• Update and document platform solution recommendations, roadmaps, and new solution proposals 
• Work individually and work with Product and Operation teams on performing design, debugging and analysis (performance and usage) on current and new solutions 
• Documenting and advocating best practice knowledge for developed solutions 
• Constantly evangelizing new features, benefits and solution possibilities to Leadership, Product, Operation teams and our stakeholder teams 
• Must provide strong technical leadership to our teams throughout the project lifecycle 
• Develop quick turnaround proofs-of-concept to validate proposed solutions  
• Work with customers to design solutions for their use case 
• Represent HDAP architecture to stakeholders and external parties 

Qualifications

Education 

•  Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering management or other engineering or technical discipline is required (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
• Nine (9) years' experience or more required

Required Skills:

• Must enjoy documenting and teaching solutions 
• Must be able project into the future and consider upcoming uses, considering long-term use, adaptability, and scalability 
• Must have excellent project management skills and organization capabilities, although this is not a project manager position 
• Must know how to implement and support solutions for an automated-continuous-deployment platform as well as manually maintained platforms 
• Must be able to write scripts, install applications, configure continuous-deployment for multiple applications running on Linux- and Windows-based systems 
• Proactively perform diagnoses, root cause analyses, and remediation to resolve operational and performance problems quickly and thoroughly 
• Understand an architect’s role in a Change Control Board 
• Using tools to track changes and version control 
• Participate in key process improvements as they relate to our environments 
• Demonstrable experience building solutions in MS Azure   
• Must be able to obtain a VA Public Trust clearance   
• Must be a mentor to other Artilects and think outside the box by teaching solutions 

 Preferred Skills 

• MS Azure Government Cloud 
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes 
• Terraform / Infrastructure as code  
• Experience with GitHub Actions 
• Experience with JIRA 
• Agile Scrum Team Expertise 
• Jira and Confluence preferable, but other tools performing same functions acceptable 
• CI / CD processes and pipelines 
• Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates 
• Experience with large data projects
