SAIC is seeking an energetic and personable individual to support the 18 Space Defense Squadron (SDS) located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA.  18 SDS provides continuous, comprehensive and combat-relevant space domain awareness by tracking man-made objects in space.  They also execute the Space Situational Awareness sharing program with U.S., commercial, academic, and foreign entities.

The TS-cleared and most qualified candidate will support 18 SDS in executing strategic communications to internal and external stakeholders.  This individual will engage with senior leaders and other team members, helping them to develop a cutting-edge communications strategy, applying best practices to their organization activities.  This role will support Public Affairs engagements, attendance at conferences and development of engagement strategies for specific audiences (e.g., satellite owner/operators, launch agencies, military partners, etc.), for specific purposes (e.g., promoting responsible behaviors and best practices for spaceflight safety, implementing Space Policy Directive-3).  This role will entail travel approximately 10% of the time.  

Candidate should possess: excellent oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail; a strong sense of teamwork, responsibility and interpersonal skills with customer-service attitude; the ability to multitask and manage time wisely; adaptability and willingness to be flexible to project needs; project management experience with effective time/schedule self-management and the ability to meet tight deadlines with limited direct supervision; and demonstrated initiative. 

Responsibilities:

• Identify and coordinate with potential users and user groups
• Analyze customer needs, make appropriate recommendations for message/information development, select communication method and timing of messages
• Research, write, edit, and publish communications product
• Provide direction to graphic designers, briefing developers, photographers, illustrators, and other required staff
• Manage and monitor production schedules
• Develop new communication methods and strategy to reach target audiences and/or events
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand communication needs, optimize reach, and co-create products  
• Provide consultative support to organizational leadership on how to best promote 18 SDS mission
• Support Senior Leadership by developing speeches, talking points, video scripts, briefings, and other communications products
• Create communications products and artifacts to support the strategy, plan, and architecture for effective communication, including, but not limited to: websites, memoranda, email, reports, briefings, and graphics 
• Develop training materials or consultation required to support the implementation of communications plans and strategies

Qualifications

 Qualifications 

  Must have min.(9) years of experience with a BA/BS degree, or a Master Degre with (7)  seven years of experience of            technical experience  In lieu of education must have a min. of 15 years of relevant experience with certifications in                Public Affairs and other communications certifications that are relevant to the position 

    Must be a US Citizen  

   Experience with current industry best practices related to public affairs and digital communications

• Experience creating, documenting, executing and tracking communication strategy
• Ability to author polished written communications content for distribution to organizations
• Attention to detail and exceptional writing skills are essential
• Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
• Graphic/multimedia design experience

Clearance

• Top Secret with current SCI eligibility

Desired Qualifications

• Prior military experience, or working in military environment preferred
• Knowledge of the U.S. Space Surveillance Network, global sensor issues, SDA, national space policy
• B.S/B.A. in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, and/or equivalent degree or experience

Target salary range: $135,001 - $145,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
