SAIC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.

SAIC is supporting the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) in continuation of the Improved Data Modem (IDM) sustainment and development.  The IDM is a communication device for the Army rotorcraft digital fleet. It is an Airworthy hardware and software system.  The S3I is supporting software sustainment for fielded IDM systems and an update to transition to the Aviation Mission Common Server multi-core implementation of IDM Software Application (ISA).  A Senior Software Engineer is needed to lead the ISA Team to continue the maintenance and development of the ISA for future integration of external hardware and multiple operating environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with various other teams to help define 10.3 architecture and requirements as defined by customer.
• Address priorities for new and existing defects
• Lead team in an Agile SW environment to achieve success
• Function as Scrum Master for team in estimating the required work defined for each Epic
• Review and approve ALL code checked in by team to ensure it meets coding standards and airworthiness certification requirements
• Create status and review presentations to be given to the customer on a weekly basis
• Support complete software development lifecycle
• Review Unit Test and Code Coverage analysis
• Produce software documentation (SSDD, ICD, SDD, SVD) sufficient to support airworthiness certification.

• Analyze system, software, and hardware specifications and interface documents
• Assist in the architecture, design and modeling of the ISA software.
• Provide leadership for interdisciplinary teams as required for design, documentation, implementation and test of incremental functional capabilities.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

• Bachelors in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and nine (9) years or more experience; Four (4) years experience can be accepted in lieu of degree.

Clearance Requirements:

• Must posess an active Secret clearance or have the ability to obtain one.

Required Skills:

• Experienced in leading a team of engineers, including developers, testers, and system engineers
• Embedded systems software development
• Software development using C/C++
• Full Software Development Lifecycle to include developing software component design, implementation, and unit test artifacts
• Knowledge of Unit Test and Code Coverage practices
• GitLabs
• Real Time Operating System (RTOS) experience, Green Hills Integrity 178B is highly desired
• Experience developing for distributed systems
• Network sockets experience including TCP, UDP and Multicast protocols
• Demonstrated experience developing software to implement ICDs
• Ability to work under a deadline
• Strong desire to continually learn and improve
• Proficient in MS Office

Desired Skills:

• Familiar with Variable Message Format (VMF)
• Familiar with Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), Mil-Std-1553
• Familiar with AFAPD and Mil-Std 188-220 communication protocols
• Experience integrating hardware/software with Army Rotary Wing Platforms
• Experience developing host interfaces for the Army's Combat Net Radio's
• Development experience using the Ada programming language
• Highly desired, previous knowledge of IDM system or software
• Experience with multicore SW projects
• Familiar with DO-178 DAL C
• Experience with Agile process.
