SAIC is seeking a Principal Simulation Engineer to support the United States Air Force in its goal of developing an interoperable system of system in a cloud-based command and control (CBC2) environment.  The Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS CBC2) goals include achieving alignment with the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) vision of improved information sharing, layered security, common data and architecture standards, system resiliency, faster implementation, and more effective cross-domain capabilities, including the ability for any sensor to inform any shooter across all domains. The position requires an individual with strong technical project management skills. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, team skills and DoD Program Management experience. They will be expected to continually balance and adjust work priorities to meet short deadlines and rapidly evolving customer needs.

The Simulation Engineer guides and conducts modeling, simulation and analysis activities in support of business stakeholders, analysts, and warfighters to define and analyze system and data requirements to support business and mission processes to ensure timely and accurate scenarios focusing on the integration and end-to-end performance of mission capabilities, aid in making improvements to sensor models associated with the systems, and to prototype advanced techniques to improve the quality and accuracy of the data.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the development and use of complex models, tools, and algorithms for the modeling, processing, and exploitation of data from advanced systems
  • Support modeling architectures, requirements, and systems performance and considers strategies and overall vision for the future of ABMS CBC2
  • Support the creation of models to support analysis of alternatives, performance trades, design trades, and new capabilities and develops alternatives for deployment based on M&S results in existing CBC2 architectures and cloud environments
  • Apply expertise in photogrammetry, sensor modeling, error propagation and data adjustment to integrate sensor models for current and future systems; model and/or improve performance of these systems; promote the adoption of sensor model and metadata standards; and improve data accuracy though post processing techniques (e.g., registration and data adjustment).  
  • Works with the testing team and organizes and control the discipline of testing and how to effectively implement a testing process while fulfilling the traditional leadership roles of a manager. They ensure that the test infrastructure supports robust communication and cost effective testing and evaluation frameworks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plans and executes modeling and simulation systems development projects.
  • Possesses and applies knowledge about simulation methods for analysis of complex human-machine systems and training.
  • Designs and develops simulation systems and modeling of simulation objects.
  • Duties may include performing analysis applying appropriate scientific and engineering processes and modeling techniques to the life-cycle development of systems; performing analysis and trade-off studies related to operational issues, and reviewing test plans to ensure MOEs address operational requirements using modeling and simulation tools and techniques; reviewing plans for system integration, operation, and maintenance and assisting in the development of training for operational personnel.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree plus 2+ years’ experience as a modeling and simulation engineer
  • Broad understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts related to simulation and training technologies. 
  • Strong software development skills and the ability to apply them to develop technical solutions pertaining to simulation interfaces and integration.
  • Ability to analyze alternatives and apply judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. 

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with: DOORS, Cameo, Systems Modeler, AFSIM, Cameo Enterprise Architect (Client Tools), Sparx Enterprise Architect, Sparx (Server), Prolaborate, ProCloud,WebEA, and MatLab. C1 DEaaS is seeking approval for Dassault
    3DX, Dassault Spinner, Model Center and Symantec Data Broker. Our
    full-service CBC2 IDE includes a full digital thread tool suit, including
    tools such as Aras, Semantic Broker, Riverbed Modeler for Network
    M&S, and Systems Tool Kit (STK) for visualization
