SAIC is seeking a Network Engineer to support the United States Air Force in its goal of developing an interoperable system of system in a cloud-based command and control (CBC2) environment.  The Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS CBC2) goals include achieving alignment with the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) vision of improved information sharing, layered security, common data and architecture standards, system resiliency, faster implementation, and more effective cross-domain capabilities, including the ability for any sensor to inform any shooter across all domains. The position requires an individual with strong technical project management skills. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, team skills and DoD Program Management experience. They will be expected to continually balance and adjust work priorities to meet short deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• May design, analyze, plan, modify, and maintain networks and network components supporting data, voice and/or audio communication activities.
• Prepares the analysis of short/long term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling.
• May conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies as well as internal studies of network performance and traffic analysis.
• May evaluate new technology.
• Duties may include providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture; providing information for hardware and software selection; and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
• Conducts testing of network systems.
• Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
• Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors and 5+ years’ experience in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (or comparable documented work experience).
• US Citizenship is required
• The ability to obtain or maintain a clearance as dictated by the contract

Desired qualifications

• Recent hands-on experience with Cisco Datacenter, WAN, LAN, Client Access technologies such as MACsec, HSRP, VRF, VPC, ACLs, BGP, EIGRP
• Recent hands-on experience with Firewalls and VPN Concentrators (FTD and ASA)
• Hands-on experience with Software Defined Networking technologies
• Recent hands on experience with Network and Application load balancers
• Knowledge of, and hands on experience implementing IT and Cyber Security best practices
• Experience with managing engineering projects (i.e., design, build, deploy).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations, determine course of action and act promptly and effectively when problems arise.
• Experience with scripting languages such as, Bash, Powershell, python, etc.
• Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communications skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently as well on collaborative teams.
