SAIC is seeking an experienced, results-oriented, mission-driven Chief Cloud Engineer to optimize Sponsor’s DataOps performance and operational stability by taking maximum advantage of cloud resources in support of national security objectives. You’ll be part of agile teams responsible for increasing innovation capacity and driving the velocity of development of data ingestion and data analysis. You will synchronize efforts with other tasks in assembling data technologies to control the flow of data from source to value, with the goal of speeding up the process of deriving value and insight.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for unlocking the secrets held by a dataset and applying cloud computing expertise to assess Sponsor’s current infrastructure and explore options for optimizing performance as well as deploying new cloud technology implementations leveraging cloud governance principles and best practices. Must have active/current TS/SCI with polygraph clearance
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or 4 years of additional experience in lieu of degree
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in the following activities:
Developing code and scripts in JAVA and Python
Experience in building and deploying systems on the Cloud, using CI/CD frameworks and Infrastructure automation.
Creating and managing cloud application development resources including Virtual Private Connections (VPC) and Virtual Machines (VM)
Iaas, PaaS and SaaS Services (compute, storage network, security, administration, automation, application services, databases) in either native cloud or hybrid-cloud environments
Using GitHub and Open Source applications
Hands-on Cloud services configuration, automation and operation experiences
Hands-on experience developing and/or maintaining Cloud provisioning templates with IaC technologies
Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in enterprise data strategy, data governance practices, data stewardship principles, data standards, and metadata management best practices
Experience with DevOps tool chains (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, etc.) and container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with scripting experience/background with PowerShell and Bash
Strong analysis and quality assessment skills
Excellent verbal/written communications and the ability to work independently and in a team environment
Experience migrating both customer built and enterprise apps to the cloud from on-prem
Team player and have the ability to collaborate with various enterprise teams (application, networking, security) to develop solutions and resolve issues
Ability to explain technical issues clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with managing data in relational databases and distributed computing systems in cloud storage
Experience with ingesting data into SQL and NoSQL database systems using Databricks
Experience with managing Databricks systems to include cluster sizing and performance analysis
