Description

SAIC is seeking a talented Senior Architect with extensive experience. The Senior Architect shall lead design and implementation of a strategy to migrate a technology platform technology and work with technical SMEs to ensure design and build are leveraged appropriately for modernization efforts. The current customer platform is being modernized to sit on the new Appian platform, utilizing low code/no code technology. Activities will include API design and use, system integration, data migration, disaster recovery, data replication, and System Analysis Program (SAP) reviews and recommendations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop system architecture for integrated claims processing and benefits delivery products, specifically incorporating modernization requirements related to the Appian Platform
  • Create diagrams and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topology
  • Establish system information requirements using analysis of the information engineers in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems
  • Design architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces
  • Assist in the architectural runway design, providing design direction and the solution framework
  • Maintain knowledge of the technical stack and technology used to build applications
  • Collaborate with customers, end-users, developers, and project managers to analyze, design, implement, and support IT applications and systems
  • Evaluate the as-is architecture against agreed upon architecture guidelines provided by VA and broader industry best practices
  • Document modernization and improvement opportunities in the portfolio backlog, as it relates to Appian platform.
  • Assist VA project managers with the development of high-quality responses to internal and external information requests and provide technical consultation and support on all platform initiatives
  • Translate technical information from disparate sources into executive-level communications
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures for program activities and identify process improvements
  • Facilitate meetings with VA employees and capture meeting minutes
  • Work independently to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Function as part of an integrated team sharing products, best practices, and information across the portfolio
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent degree in a related field and 10+ years of experience is heavily preferred, 3 years’ of related experience required.  
  • 10 additional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of education.
  • SAFe or Agile certification preferred

Required Skills:

  • Appian Platform
  • AWS Redshift, QuickSight, S3, DMS, Jira, GitHub, or comparable DevOps tools
  • Microsoft® Office Suite, i.e. Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook/Access/MS® Project, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Visio
  • Appian platform experience and/or knowledge
  • Experience in design and development of IT architecture
  • Deep understanding of AWS architecture
  • Knowledge of data warehouse development or DataMart and Business Intelligence
  • Experience with data movement and building data pipelines
  • Experience in a wide range of work in creating diagrams and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

 

Additional Desired Skills:

 

  • Experience working as a contractor or an employee for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
  • Experience in: Appian, Jira, PowerBI, AWS (Redshift), QuickSight, DMS, Spectrum, Glue, Athena
  • Experience working in a consulting environment and understanding of client/customer relations
  • Deep knowledge of data movement and building data pipelines
  • Data Warehouse development and/or DataMart and Business Intelligence knowledge
  • Ability to work under pressure, coordinate multiple assignments at once, and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to grasp complex technologies easily, learn new information quickly, and adapt to changing job requirements
