SAIC is seeking a Database Engineer Principal to support the United States Air Force in its goal of developing an interoperable system of system in a cloud-based command and control (CBC2) environment. The Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS CBC2) goals include achieving alignment with the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) vision of improved information sharing, layered security, common data and architecture standards, system resiliency, faster implementation, and more effective cross-domain capabilities, including the ability for any sensor to inform any shooter across all domains. The position requires an individual with strong technical project management skills. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, team skills and DoD Program Management experience. They will be expected to continually balance and adjust work priorities to meet short deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Establishes database management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
• Specific responsibilities of the Database Engineer include working with clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the client's entity relationship and flow of data including: developing the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the model; and making recommendations to maximize operating efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, ensure recovery is maintained. Also, participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors and 9+ years’ experience
• Data Storage
• Data at rest and in motion
• API script development
• Extensive programming experience using MySQL, MS Access, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or other databases to record data to capture high-level required performance metrics (RPMs) down through derived requirements for  technical segment development, with links to required resources as part of traditional and/or agile development.

Desired qualifications

• Graph and/or multi-modal database such as Neo4j or H2o 
• Demonstrated experience in managing data for integrity and database performance and in adapting current code for improved overall performance and capability.
• Demonstrated experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and/or the USAF C2.
• Demonstrated experience with the identification of technical issues and proactive communication of possible impacts.
