SAIC’s National Intelligence Community (NIC) Business Unit, USG Mission and Information Technology Division is seeking a Cyber Security Project Engineer to lead the technical efforts needed to manage IT applications and systems through IT Security Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process. The Cyber Security Project Engineer will apply their expertise in security documentation, drafting and reviewing controls, and scanning of IT systems to determine security posture, and provide support to the tenants as needed. Some of the tools utilized will be: Xacta and ServiceNow to monitor and track systems and maintain a document repository; Nessus, Rapid7, WebInspect, and AppDetective to review, monitor, and track system environments to identify vulnerabilities; and JIRA and Oracle Primavera P6 to document work task and hours.



  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems or a related discipline. Note that years of experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Five (5) years or more of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following cyber security activities:

    • Managing and shepherding IT applications and systems through RMF, following the A&A process

    • Using technical A&A and analytical skills to assist customers with the lifecycle A&A process

    • Providing oversight for pre-assessments of the severity of weaknesses or deficiencies discovered in designated information systems and their environments of operations, and recommend corrective actions to address identified vulnerabilities

    • Auditing operational systems

    • Developing and updating system security documents

    • Managing and controlling changes to systems, and assessing the security impact of those changes

    • Providing forensic support for root-cause determination of security related issues

    • Mentoring and training others in security matters

    • Conducting face-to-face stakeholder engagements in support of the A&A efforts i.e., engineers, mission partners, etc

    • Monitoring logs using an auditing tool such as Splunk


  • Understanding of system administration for Windows and Linux systems

  • Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information System Security Engineer Professional (ISSEP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
