Job Description


SAIC is seeking a motivated and ambitious Software Engineer to join the Advanced Hypersonic Weapons & Guided Munitions Division (E20) to support research and development analyses in the advanced fire control gun and launcher systems in Dahlgren, VA. The Software Engineer will perform software development in C++, Java, Python, Bash, and PowerShell in support of lethality assessment efforts of the Hypersonic Weapon System.

NOTE: This position has a Hybrid remote / work from home, but must be willing to work in an operational support environment


  • Work with system integrators, network engineers, and project managers to create software applications
  • Identify and investigate solutions to technical problems/needs of moderate scope and complexity where mathematical analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
  • Develop software tools and applications based on system level requirements in C++, Bash, PowerShell, python, or Java utilizing a strong basis of mathematics in calculations based on the individual system needs
  • Develop engineering technical material including but not limited to System Decryption Documents, Installation Guides, and Interface Control Documents
  • Participate in peer reviews of requirements, design, test strategies and implementation
  • Ability to travel in support of the program



  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent degree from an accredited university and Two  (2) years of experience, experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with C++ or Java software development, peer code review, or software test
  • Solid understanding of  basic Data Structures and basic Algorithms
  • Solid understanding of Calculus and/or Statistics is a strong benefit
  • Experience with technical documentation writing


  • Experience with Matlab
