SAIC is currently seeking a VMware Engineer to support the US Army Corps of Engineers Revolutionary IT Services (USACE RITS) program. In this role you will be focused on managing the VMware 6.7/7.0 environment, which includes all upgrades, audits, performance monitoring & troubleshooting, ESXi, vCenter, and Virtual Machine management & provisioning of the storage area network (SAN). This is a mixed environment consisting of Windows, UNIX/Linux, and NetApp. Strong Networking skills required.

Job Location: This is a virtual / work from home / remote position located anywhere in the CONUS.

Standard work week: M-F 8 Hours a day / Oncall rotation every 4 to 5 weeks

Responsibilities:  

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in engineering, implementing, and operating VMWare SDDC platforms using VMWare 6.x or higher
  • Provide solutions in VMware NSX-T technologies
  • Integrate NSX-T software defined network with existing physical network infrastructure
  • Provide As-Is and To-Be technical designs, assessments, gap and risk analysis
  • Develop strategy for modernization that includes discovery, requirement analysis, application design and specification, systems integration, workload migration, product customizations, solution test plan, and quality assurance
  • Participate in the planning and design of services and systems
  • Update existing infrastructure to the latest version of vSphere 6.7 with best practices for support of NSX, vRealize, vCloud Foundations (vCF), and vSAN
  • Develop baseline configurations for ESXi hosts including the implementation and maintenance of security standards, specifically DISA STIGs
  • Develop, apply, and maintain resource pools within VMWare and assessing overall performance for workload performance
  • Coordinate with the technical points of contact for networking, security, and applications to migrate services and data

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; 4 years of equivalent expereince accepted in lieu of degree.

Required Experience: 

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a technical engineer in virtualization
  • Expertise and hands-on experience with full suite vSphere services including vCenter, DRS, SRM, vVOLs, fault tolerance, patching, and high availability
  • Implement, support, and monitor performance management of enterprise VMware vSphere environments across data centers
  • Strong storage, networking, and system engineering experience
  • Exposure to other VMware products like NSX, vRealize, vROps, Horizon (VDI)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex migration and configuration problems or system issues
  • OS experience with Windows 10, Server (2012-2019), RHEL 6+

Required Clearance: 

  • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain the interim Secret Security clearance to begin working on the contract.  Must be able to obtain the full Secret Security clearance.  SAIC will assist with the process of obtaining the interim Secret clearance for the qualified candidate.

Required Certification:

  • DoD 8570 Baseline Security Certification for an IAT level II.  Must have any one of the following certifications prior to start date: 
    • Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP
  • Must have a Computing Environment certification such as VCP, MCP, MCSA, CCNA or equivalent

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
