SAIC is seeking a Software Engineer to support The Ocean Biology Processing Group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
The Ocean Biology Processing Group (http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center is a world leader in satellite-based remote sensing of the ocean. This position will support the NASA Ocean Biology Processing Group (http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/ ) at Goddard Space Flight Center in scientific software development and science operations for current and future satellite radiometers.
Work will include software development and operations support for the Science Data Segment of the PACE mission. Duties may include implementation of processing algorithms in science software; evaluation and validation of the performance of the algorithms; development of tools and operations support for science data collection, calibration planning and instrument monitoring; and documentation through publications and presentations at meetings and conferences.
Required (Basic) Skills: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the development of scientific data processing software using C, C++, or Fortran in a UNIX/Linux environment; strong verbal and written communications skills.
The successful candidate must also be eligible for unescorted access to NASA facilities.
Desired (Preferred) Skills: Experience with Python. Experience with satellite instrument software development. Experience with evaluation of geophysical products retrieved from satellite data. Experience in scientific satellite instrument operations.
Education: Degree in Physical Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics (post graduate education will be considered for professional experience).
