SAIC is seeking a Digital Engineering (DE) Database Administrator for an exciting and innovative Cloud One program. The successful candidate must possess demonstrated data/database architecture, design, integration, and management skills in Digital Engineering environment. This is a Hybrid/Remote position requiring candidate to work in a SIPR facility up to 25% of a work week. 

The DE DB Administrator manages, monitors, and maintain the end-to-end C1 DE various databases, executing requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data. The DB Admin also ensures database security, integrity, stability and system availability. Maintaining database backup and recovery infrastructure.

The candidate also has deep expertise in large data volume and structure with complex patterns supporting various points of the Digital Engineering lifecycle ensuring the Authoritative Source of Truth data integrity to achieve a full Digital Thread capability.

The DE DB Administrator possesses and applies knowledge about various tools, standards and methods for flow and analysis of complex systems data within DE ecosystem.

Roles and responsibilities potentially include:

  • Serves as the main database person, responsible for the design and architecture of the program’s data flow and integration. Solid understanding of various data infrastructure and how data from different systems interact.
  • Hands-on expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Responsible for querying, maintaining or adding new administrative objects to the matrix schema; use TCL within matrix to configure and extend matrix applications such as to create Object Methods, Triggers etc.
  • Test, manage, and modify the data model; extract, import data and work extensively with scripts.
  • Responsible for data security and governance: implement repeatable processes, develop roles, policies, standards, and metrics that ensure the effective and efficient use of data/information.

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. 

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain an active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ year work experience strongly desired; 5+ years of related experience in data architecture, engineering or database administration required
  • 5 + years of experience using and ingesting data into SQL and NoSQL database systems
  • 5+ years of experience developing data models
  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining data processing flows
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS or Azure)
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Strong background and experience with Digital engineering environment
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams

Desired Education, Experience, and Qualifications:  

  • Experienced with Python, R, SQL, PostgreSQL, TCL, VB; familiarity with matrix queries and/or Matrix Query language (MQL)
  • Experienced in one or more of the following DB environments: MS SQL Server, MySQL Server, Oracle, Cassandra
  • Familiarity with C or Basic
  • Familiarity with 3DX Platform implementation and administration is highly desirable
  • Experience with database administration; familiar with Data Warehouse and Data Lake concepts for reporting, analytics, and data mining
  • Experience with development of project work plans, milestone tracking, and coordination of efforts
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities, and able to compile and organize statistical information retrieved and present findings to management
  • Effective communication working in diverse teams.

Target salary range: $100,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
