SAIC is seeking a Senior Cloud Application Engineer for its team supporting a Department of Veterans Affairs program. This is a role heavily focused on database design and implementation, and solving engineering challenges in a cloud environment with a high-performing team of collaborative engineering professionals.
 
This team is responsible for the architecture, engineering and deployment of engineering projects, designed to streamline performance, reduce administrative overhead and workload, and deliver a seamless user experience with our customers. Work can be performed remotely in the United States. 
 
Key Duties/Responsibilities:

• Develop and Test application APIs.
• Develop a web application in the AWS Government Cloud.
• Implement DevSecOps automation for Infrastructure, Build, Test, and Deploy.
• Analyze existing system architecture and recommend secure design changes to the Cloud based system based on project objectives.
• Create data models.
• Implement database design.
• Analyze and manipulate data using Python.
• Generate design documents, best practice configurations, and test procedures.
• Execute testing to validate system performance IAW the developed test plan and criteria.
• Recommend improvements to the existing architecture and process to reduce repetitive or time-intensive tasks in favor of automated solutions.
• Provide subject matter expertise on Database technologies and Cloud toolsets (Terraform, etc.) and best practices.
• Configure and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and containers.
• Proactively identify and resolve operational, tooling and process inefficiencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or seven (7) years’ experience in an IT related field with a Master’s degree. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to obtain a public trust.

Required Skills:

• Experience using AWS services (EC2, Cloudwatch, ECS, Lambda, Aurora/MySQL)
• Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools
• Experience using Git and Github Actions
• Experience with Docker
• Knowledge of and experience working with DevSecOps tool sets.
• Experience in Cloud deployment.
• Experience in web development.
• Experience designing and implementing APIs.
• Experience working with PHI/PII.
• Skilled in Data Modeling across multiple database technologies.
• Skilled in Data warehousing.
• Experience analyzing and manipulating data using Python.
• Enterprise architecture skills including application, information, and infrastructure.
• Strong technical documentation skills.
• 3+ years’ experience working on a remote team or remote freelancing.
• Prior professional services, government, or federal consulting experience.
• Experience preparing technical documentation.

• Experience with Github Flow
• Experience with Docker Compose
• Understanding of OAuth 2
• Experience with React and Jest
• Experience Static code analysis tools
• Knowledge of FHIR and SMART on FHIR
