Job Title: FAA UAS Sr. Aviation Analyst I
Job Description: Works independently or leads teams in the analysis and study of complex aviation technical and operational issues. Develops, analyzes, evaluates and advises on methods and techniques to improve the safety and operational performance of the air transportation system. Based on analysis conclusions and study findings, prepares draft detailed recommendations on methods, procedures to apply and alternative methods or means to improve the air transportation system. Applies experience with UAS systems, capabilities and emerging technologies, and FAA Safety Management System and FAA regulations 14CFR Part 107 and Part 91 as it relates to UAS. Analyzes Part 107 waivers, UAS airspace waivers, and petitions for exemption. Utilizes and applies knowledge of web information technology, data collection, data mining, data analytics and associated tools such as Adobe applications suite, Sharepoint, Powerpoint, advanced Excel (i.e., pivot tables), Access, MS Project, Visio, multimedia applications (Adobe Photoshop,Prezi), ability to write macros in varying appl;ications (ile., Visual Basic), etc to provide an information format for Government and industry personnel and the general public.
Job Requirements:
Strong technical skills in aviation, flight experience - UAS specific flight experience preferable. Knowledge of FAA regulations, most notably 49 USC part 91 and part 107 as they relate to UAS. Understand the difference between civil, commercial, and public aircraft operations. Experience with UAS systems and capabilities. Knowledge of UAS, including technology, operations, regulations and applications. Knowledge of UAS beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations and associated mitigations as well as command and control (C2) and detect and avoid (DAA) capabilities. Knowledge of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and the associated components and challenges of AAM. Knowledge of air traffic, flight standards procedures and aircraft certification processes and procedures. Must be able to problem-solve and think critically. Possess - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, guide and work with groups across lines of business that include federal and contract resources. Applicants should also be adaptable, pro-active, able to multi-task, flexible, have the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, and have the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
Software Requirements: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word – strong knowledge of Word including document formatting with headers levels and table of contents; creation of tables; document review functions. Microsoft PowerPoint – working knowledge of power point and master slide features. Microsoft Excel – working knowledge of spread sheets and basic excel functions.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 8 years of direct aviation experience concerning flight operations, including a minimum of 2 years direct experience in UAS regulatory analysis and, as appropriate, experience as a pilot with a commercial or airline transport pilot rating. Bachelor’s Degree may be waived with 10 years of experience in performing the above duties.
US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Required clearance is an SF-85P completed on site by the FAA.
