Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Source Code Analyst to support a dynamic program at the Katherine Johnson Independent Verification and Validation Facility located in Fairmont, West Virginia. 

This position will require the ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

Job Duties:

Perform security analysis for NASA mission critical custom software, which may severely jeopardize the security posture of the system if compromised.

Evaluate the security posture of the code base by applying a variety of security analysis techniques and tools to analyze the custom mission source code for weaknesses and to identify vulnerable open source components in use.  

Identify security weaknesses and vulnerabilities in various programming languages (Python, C, C++, C#, Java) and recommend mitigations. 

Read and understand code written by others and identify code locations that handle critical data flows and I/O. 

Develop exploits to test potential vulnerabilities.  


Education and Experience: Bachelors in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related fields and four (4) years or more experience.

  • Must have experience in application security or software engineering, development, or testing
  • Experience with software engineering and how cybersecurity can be integrated into the software engineering lifecycle
  • Experience performing application security research & development, turning concepts into prototypes
  • Experience performing static code analysis scans and validating static analysis tool findings
  • Experience performing software assurance activities
  • Experience with configuring compilers and interpreters
  • Proficient in Windows, Linux, and Unix based operating systems
  • Proficient in scripting and software development languages such as python, C/C++, Java, C#, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with MITRE’s Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) platform


  • Experience with space systems, as well as legacy software used in space operations
