SAIC is seeking a Software Systems Engineer with Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) experience to support a dynamic program at the Katherine Johnson Independent Verification and Validation Facility located in Fairmont, West Virginia. 

This position will require the ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

Job Duties:

Performs independent Systems / Software Engineering activities on NASA Spacecraft software systems through NASA software development lifecycle phases (concept of operations, requirements, design, code/implementation, test, and operations).

Includes numerous IV&V analyses (e.g. requirements, design, interface, static code, software, and test) with focus on GNC spacecraft artifacts to evaluate for mission suitability and defect correction.

Analysis performed on draft and final products delivered for peer reviews, development build releases, and formal testing. 

Responsible for understanding work processes and methodologies, best practices, NASA standards, system and software specifications.

Responsible for utilizing documentation and GNC experience to develop technical understanding, perform detailed assessments, and document issues, risks, and reports in accordance with standards and best practices. Documentation of technical understanding may include notes, reference summaries, charts, flow diagrams, scenarios, formal modeling, coverage / traceability assessments, risk assessments, technical engineering principles, theories, concepts, and  heritage applicable to the mission. 

This is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content; rather this is representative and managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee.

Works under the supervision of more senior systems and/or software engineers and managers; may lead more junior personnel; may serve as Task Lead, Project Lead, or Project Technical Lead .

Receives assignments in the form of specific tasks for the work to be completed, or coverts more general tasking to the needed level of specific detail for execution.

Works closely with other members of team/organization to build team cohesion, brainstorm, share knowledge, develop/update approaches, perform peer reviews, and provide recommendations to promote growth and confidence in performing IV&V analyses  

Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting objectives and schedules

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. Aerospace or similar Engineering Degree. 

Possess the knowledge and experience to perform complex and difficult system and specialty engineering task on GNC/ACS Systems on Spacecraft or like vehicles with Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). 

Possess C/C++ and modeling experience to analyze complex software algorithms and supporting wrapper code.

Possess knowledge of scripting languages to analyze test artifacts as well as ability to analyze results from data exports.

Knowledge and utilization of industry leading tools like GitHub, Unix scripting, Python, Matlab, Understand, 42, JIRA, Confluence, DOORs, and Static Analyzer Tools is a plus. 

Experience with communicating assurance and defects in reports and documenting issues formally in tools.  Ability to coordinate closely with customers and cross-functional areas to communicate IV&V project status, initiatives, and results.
