SAIC is looking for a Mechanical Engineer Associate to support the MK48 contract developing mechanical systems, equipment and packages at our East gate facility in Bedford, IN.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Develops static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages.

  • Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee). Limited use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Receives assignments in the form of specific tasks for the work to be completed.

  • Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting objectives and schedules.

  • PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

  • FREEDOM TO ACT: Work is closely supervised. Follows specific, detailed instructions.

  • IMPACT: Contributes to completion of routine technical tasks. Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs

  • LIASON: Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals in the group.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Support quality assurance and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

  • Collaborates with engineering laboratory and production functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

  • Develops static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages. 

  • Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. 

  • Works with support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. 

  • Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.

  • Works with the design engineers, drafters, and/or computer-aided design staff. Selects and monitors vendor support for CAD engineers and technicians to ensure state-of-the-art applications and equipment by expansion of systems and linkage to automated test equipment.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline and 0 years’ experience.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple projects at one time.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point and Project).

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen.

  • Candidate must also be able to obtain a Full DOD Secret Security Clearance.
