SAIC is currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Java Developer Principal to join our team to begin an exciting and challenging career.

Job Responsibilities

• The candidate will participate in design, development, and implementation of Java/J2EE based apps to support business requirements/logic.
• Use modern software engineering tools including Eclipse, VS Code, and Atlassian Suites for design, development, and testing of application code.
• Follow life cycle methodologies and develop/test Java/J2EE applications as part of an enterprise team. Working with and mentoring mid-level and junior team members is expected.
• Resolve technical issues through debugging, analysis, research, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Migrating monolithic application code into Spring Boot based microservices.
• The candidate will support designing, building, and deploying microservices. A thorough understanding of CI/CD pipelines for development and deployment of Spring Boot based microservices is expected.
• The candidate will be expected to learn and adhere to the continuous integration, automated unit testing and other AGILE practices established within the team using the tools that are currently used by the team.
• The candidate is expected to diagnose and fix issues in existing application components as part of maintenance.

• The candidate is expected to learn, mentor, and evolve with the team as the team transitions to newer/modern technology stacks

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering field with 9+ years of technical experience
• JSP\Servlets
• Struts
• EJBS
• JEE Server experience (Weblogic\Websphere\JBOSS\etc.)
• JMS
• JPA\Hibernate (Extensive skills and strong SQL skills)
• PostgreSQL
• Spring, Spring Boot
• Provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running on AWS (or equivalent cloud providers)
• Experience with object-oriented analysis and design techniques
• Thorough understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Gitlab etc) and have experience designing, developing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for deployment into a container based environment.
• Thorough understanding of infrastructure (firewalls, load balancers, storage, monitoring, security etc.) and have experience with orchestration to develop a cloud native solution.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain scalable Web Applications/Microservices in the cloud.
• High level of self-motivation, desire to deliver stellar solutions and willingness to work in a distributed team environment
• Ability to lead and mentor junior and mid-level developers

Desired Skills and Experience

• Reactive and Functional programming experience a plus.
• Developing API tests using Selenium, Postman, Cypress or equivalent tools\frameworks.
• Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools (Git and Gradle/Maven)
• Load Balancing and Enterprise Service Bus frameworks (preferably under Cloud environment)
• Agile Scrum and possibly experience with leading a Scrum team as a scrum master or equivalent
• Biographic/document text matching using a framework such as Lucene/Solr, ElasticSearch, Sphinx, etc.
• DynamoDB, HBase, MongoDB, Cassandra
• JQuery, AngularJS, NodeJS
• Masters in Computer Science or related field
