Description

SAIC has an opening for Principal Software Engineer to join our team developing, improving, and extending an existing suite of human-centric dosimetry, physiological, and cognitive C++ models.  Position requires strong computational skills to support component library development on site at Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston.  Remote candidates will be considered but should be open to occasional travel to San Antonio up to 4 times per year.

Position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team developing component libraries to be integrated into various application, desktop, cloud, and simulation frameworks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (Physicist, Biomedical Engineers, Biochemists, etc.) to translate computational/scientific papers into software design and implement the same in C++ Code.
  • Work closely with a team of SMEs and other software developers in an Agile SW environment.
  • Support less experienced developers with technical coding challenges 
  • Take technical lead on development projects assigned with SME support/leadership as appropriate.
  • Integrate computational libraries into unique application frameworks (e.g. AFSIM, Endgame Framework, Google Cloud Platform, Qt, WxWidgets, etc..)
  • Present/Lead bi-weekly Sprint Reviews with development team and customer when assigned as technical lead.
  • Review and Process GitLab Merge Requests for code base(s) assigned
  • Maintain presence on team social media platforms for both Air Force and SAIC.
  • Write/Run/Troubleshoot Unit Testing Code for projects using Catch2 Unit Test Framework
  • Use and extend, as needed, code-base of Conan C++ Package Recipes

 

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Applied Math, or Computer Science with strong programming skills with 9 years of experience OR Masters degree & 7 years of experience 

Required Skills

  • Experience with and proficiency with C++, CMake, Visual Studio, git, GitLab/GitHub
  • Experience building C++ Component Libraries
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Experiencing working in an agile development environment (e.g. SCRUM, DevSecOps, etc)
  • Track record of developing and delivering software solutions.
  • Bonus: Conan C++ Package Manager experience, Artifactory, Open Source project involvement, SysML or UML training

Target salary range: $100,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
