SAIC has a potential opportunity for a Senior System Administrator who will be responsible for providing server support as well as some desktop support for our client at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.

 

This position is contingent upon contract award which is expected end of September/October 2022.

 

Note: This is temporarily remote due to COVID.  This position will be working remote 3-4 days and 1-2 days on site in Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Server Support:

  • The candidate will be part of a team of responsible for supporting approximately 40 Windows servers hosted on site in addition to the supporting VMware infrastructure and hardware.

  • Server support includes applying updates, applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), performing configuration changes and routine backups.

  • Supported applications include Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft DevOps / Team Foundation Server, Microsoft IIS, as well as various code analysis and test tools.  Experience with VMware and Linux is a plus.

  • The candidate will configure the servers according to user requirements and documented best practices. The servers will be monitored on a regular basis to ensure the systems are compliant with DoD and Army policies and regulations. This includes reviewing audit logs and checking for intrusion attempts.

Desktop Support:

  • The candidate will be responsible for responding to requests for desktop support originating from helpdesk tickets, phone calls, and emails. Support includes all aspects of installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of laptops, desktops, and printers.

  • Candidate will be responsible for responding to various taskers related to securing desktop hardware.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience. Four (4) additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Some windows server experience 
  • The candidate will be familiar with the use of Veeam backup software to perform both server backups as well as restoration
  • The candidate will use LTO backup tapes for offsite backup storage and retrieval.  Must be familiar with operating tape library hardware

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

Candidate must either meet or be able to obtain all of the requirements for obtaining administrative privileges on supported systems, including obtaining

  • CompTIA Security+ certification within 60 days from start date
  • DoD accepted certification in a related area within 60 days from start date. (Such as any of the following but not limited to CompTia Server+, Microsoft Certification, Vmware Certification etc)

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with VMware and Linux is a plus
