SAIC is seeking an energetic and personable individual to support the 18 Space Defense Squadron (SDS) located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA.  The TS-cleared and most qualified candidate will have an exciting and important role joining a team of experts identifying and engaging with new and existing space operations entities and partners to enhance and facilitate data and information sharing.  The team member must be receptive, willing to learn, open and engaging.     

This subject matter expert will act as the primary 18 SDS point of contact to routinely interface with Higher Headquarters (HHQ) (e.g. Space Delta 2, Combined Force Space Component Command, USSPACECOM, Space Operations Command, United States Space Force), 18 SDS Sensor Operations, Joint Task Force-Space Defense Commercial Operations, and interagency partners (e.g. Department of Commerce, NASA) to support initiatives and programs such as implementation of Space Policy Directive-3 and collaboration with commercial and coalition partners on space operations. The position will include initiating new, and sustaining existing relationships with commercial and foreign partners, academia, and other military organizations as necessary to provide data integration, administrative and exercise support.  The individual will collaborate with others to guide them through space data processes, information needs, and understanding of the long-term sustainment of this exchange relationship in order to share data from a variety of sources.  This role will entail travel approximately 10% of the time.

Technical support includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:  space surveillance, Space Situational Awareness sharing information, Space Domain Awareness (SDA), non-traditional space data, and associated presentation support.  The contractor will attend appropriate planning and development forums to further understand and incorporate data sharing processes and partnerships, and may support exercises and experiments to evaluate and explore the integration of non-traditional data into operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the liaison between 18 SDS and external entities to communicate space data exchange requirements between systems and partners
  • Coordinate with HHQ, legal office, and others to ensure data sharing relationships are in line with current data policy and Concept of Operations
  • Identify and engage with U.S. and foreign space operations entities to enhance space data awareness
  • Create education materials, update Initial Capabilities Documents and related documentation pertaining to 18 (and 19) SDS processes to standardize data exchange between Department of Defense, Interagency Partners and external entities
  • Profile and project impacts of new missions on the SDA architecture/capacity
  • Understand technical, notional, or extrapolated aspects of in-house data linkages in order to make key connections and effectively dialogue with partners
  • Coordinate efforts among various offices and partners to effectively and efficiently obtain and share space data
  • Maintain and foster relationships with partners in order to enhance knowledge of space domain awareness
  • Provide integration and administrative support to commercial and coalition partners

Qualifications

 

  • Have a basic understanding and working knowledge of the U.S. Space Surveillance Network and general space surveillance operations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conveying policy, processes, impacts and requirements through customer
  • Ability to research various sources of information and compile concisely into presentations, information papers, briefings, etc

Education, Training and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience or Master’s degree and three years of experience

Clearance

  • Top Secret with current SCI eligibility

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Prior military experience, or working in military environment preferred
  • Knowledge of the Space Surveillance Network, SDA, global sensor issues, non-traditional space data integration, space surveillance systems, operations and employment
  • Experience working with international partners or agencies

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
