Job Description

Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - M-Code Lead to support the M-Code IPTL as part of the Tomahawk Missile Program in PMA 280 at NAVAIR Patuxent River.  The selected candidate will coordinate all engineering aspects of the M-Code GPS program.  The program has different aspects of development in several phases of the acquisition life cycle.  The selected candidate will be expected to carry out work that may have little or no precedent and to provide leadership in resolving major technical and administrative problems. Work will be conducted in a hybrid environment with activities taking place at both on base in Patuxent River, MD and remotely.  Approximately 10% travel will be required.

Responsibilities will include

  • Functioning as a lead for selected focus area, including formulating approaches using knowledge of related projects to resolve a variety of nonrecurring technological problems.
  • Work on varied, complex equipment systems and subsystems associated with research, innovation, or reengineering assignments and demonstrates competence and creativity in developing new concepts and new uses of material/hardware/software/tactics.
  • Development or testing of new equipment or material that significantly adds to the operability and usefulness of existing or new equipment/systems having new features.
  • Providing technically sound advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of systems or concept development.
  • Developing plans and procedures to extend existing knowledge/tests to account for newly emerging ideas and projects. Concepts are often controversial and the Engineer, as a specialist, is called upon to technically defend and support his/her ideas and proposals.  Technical contributions are recognized by management and peers as having significant impact on projects.
  • Some work may require state-of-the-art design to take advantage of new concepts in the development of advanced systems.
  • Review of previously developed documentation for accuracy and recommending updates or changes.
  • Development of new documentation based on changes in program scope, technical path forward, and updated test results.
  • Acting as an activity's primary contact point with contractors, other managers, and sponsors for specific projects. In this capacity, the Engineer develops plans and makes written and oral presentations to various interested personnel (i.e., contractors, sponsors, and managers) on program status, technical problems, scheduling, and costs.

Qualifications

***This position REQUIRES U.S. citizenship and, at minimum, an interim DoD secret-level clearance. All candidates without an active clearance will be immediately disqualified.***

Required Qualifications:
