Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Network Cyber Modeler. The NASA Network Cyber Modeler is responsible for vulnerability assessments on enterprise and mission support networks, threat modeling, and simulating real-life cyber-attacks with the goal of helping an organization improve its security posture. This is a highly technical hands-on role that will utilize threat modeling tools and methods, network design and architecture analysis, system administration, vulnerability assessment, system/network hardening, and creativity skills. It is an opportunity for a team player to enhance a world-class team and learn/teach new skills.

  • Conducts risk and vulnerability assessment at the network and system level
  • Builds and analysis network threat and vulnerability models of large-scale and complex LAN/WAN network infrastructures using RedSeal
  • Collaborates with system administrators, network engineers, and security operations staff to perform vulnerability testing on network and system components
  • Apply and recommend secure network design principles
  • Review and analyze LAN/WAN architecture/design to determine security posture
  • Apply and recommend network device security best-practices and hardening
  • Review and analyze wireless network architecture/design and connectivity to determine security posture
  • Review and analyze Computer Network Defense architectures, strategies, and common tools as implemented in customer environments
  • Evaluate, analyze, and manipulate network protocol communications on live networks
  • Audit system and/or Security plan
  • Support projects and initiatives as the Cybersecurity subject matter expert
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve technical and non-technical challenges
  • Stay abreast of current information security threats, trends and vulnerabilities
  • Research and formulate recommendations for vulnerabilities
  • Employ extensive use of Microsoft Office main tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio to prepare plans, reports, diagrams, tables, briefings, etc.
  • Be able to present, demonstrate, explain and document operational impact of a particular vulnerability or the combination of many vulnerabilities and flaws
  • Develop proof-of-concept examples and scenarios for reports and live demonstrations
  • Create/document tactic, techniques and procedures (TTP) to train and expand/share knowledge with customers and other team members


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related fields
    • Minimum 5-7 years of network design/engineering/administration
    • Minimum 8-10 years of cybersecurity experience 
    • Minimum 3-5 years IT security risk/compliance/technical assessment experience
