SAIC has an opening for a Training Analyst Technician in support of Interoperable Communications Technical Assistance Program (ICTAP). The ideal candidate will help the exercise manager and operations team plan and evaluate functional and full scale exercises. The team works with first responders to develop and execute major disaster exercises to train first responders and evaluate existing SOPs. Travel is a large part of the job as this position may require travel to any of the US 56 states and territories.  The work will typically involve periods with minimal work during the planning phase, a week on site at an exercise location and 8-10 hours of post exercise support. This position can support a candidate in any US location. The candidate will be Part time (hourly) as needed, remote work with travel.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Supports the technical implementation of incident communications systems
• Actively assigns and processes equipment distribution
• Tracks equipment and trains operators on equipment use
• Tracks programming levels of equipment
• Understands the complexity of emergency and disaster deployments
• Work with the exercise team exercise planning including identifying/setting up the equipment needed to conduct the exercise events. (E.g., radio types, jammers, phones, etc.)  
• Assist public safety stakeholders with technical guidance on setting up their equipment for performance in an exercise
• Provides technical expertise in the consideration of equipment and best practices for public safety communications equipment such as; Land Mobile Radios, gateways, and IT network equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelors and Ten (10) years or more of related experience; Masters and eight (8) years or more of related experience; PhD or JD and five (5) years or more experience.
• The communications technician will need to have knowledge and experience using public safety communications systems (voice, data, and video) in a practical or training application.
• Must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
• Experience with public safety communication.
• In process of being certified or certified as COMT/ ITSL.
