SAIC has an opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to support work in Warren, MI.  SAIC is leading the way in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering to enable rapid and futuristic improvements in US Army ground vehicle capabilities. These improvements include development and demonstration of leading edge technologies for new manned and unmanned vehicles including integration and analysis of advanced sensor technologies, vehicle autonomy, and legacy system upgrades.  As a Senior Systems Engineer with SAIC, you will be on the leading edge of applying MBSE and Digital Engineering techniques that are reshaping the future.

This is a 100% Remote / Work from Home position. 

Performs Systems Engineering activities related to Information Technology or Engineering including: concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system op. performance analysis, Lifecycle cost analysis estimation, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis (PCA). Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications. Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. From an information technology perspective, may be concerned with floor layout, power cooling, data storage, infrastructure management, backup, monitoring, operating systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met.

PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.

FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

IMPACT: Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.

LIASON: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors in Engineering or realted techincal degree and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
  • Experience in applying Systems Engineering processes and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools to complex project/product solutions
  • Experience in DoDAF, SysML and UML modeling, simulation, and analysis
  • Develop and mature system requirements and interface control documents in DOORS or other requirements management tool
  • Conduct trade studies and comparative performance assessments of system, subsystem and component alternatives to inform overall system decisions/recommendations
  • Work with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and customers throughout the process to develop and demonstrate integrated system design in accordance with requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

  • Must be a US citizen that has or is able to obtain a Secret Level Security Clearance

Target salary range: $125,001 - $135,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
