Description

The US Air Force is procuring a critical and complex Space and Ground system to meet operational and tactical collection needs not currently met with airborne and surface deployed sensors.  This program emphasizes rapid schedule and complex interfaces.  The system design involves schedule automation, challenging collection and processing timelines, and ad-hoc tasking.  The specified system is unique compared with traditional, overhead remote sensing programs.  SAIC is the Systems Integrator for this complex program.

SAIC is seeking Test Engineers to develop and oversee Test and Demonstration of the new space system and the associated ground efforts.  You will support system engineering and integration activities from concept, to development, integration, and transition to an operational enterprise. You will be involved in early program development including requirements, interfaces, and CONOPS development to inform critical test planning.  You will bring a working knowledge of space/ground systems integration and test activities, develop test methodologies and execute tests to verify developed capability meets system requirements.  

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identifying, planning, and executing verification methodologies for complex space and ground systems, and developing required verification plans, procedures and reports
  • Performing Systems Integration of ground segment and space segment through early integration tests, risk reductions and demonstrations in an Agile DevSecOps environment
  • Ensuring requirement traceability is established and maintained throughout requirement allocation, verification and validation
  • Analyzing and decomposing system requirements to develop detailed test objectives, plans, success criteria, and requirement closure approaches
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop, review and release verification and validation test plans
  • Reviewing requirement specification and Interface Control Documents and requests for changes to determine impacts to verification and validation testing.
  • Developing verification and validation test event baselines including coordination between ground and space developers in support of achieving program objectives, user needs, and design milestones.
  • Overseeing and witnessing of space/ground segment-level test and verification events
  • Supporting system level validation events, interface tests, and end-to-end demonstrations
  • Developing Test Readiness Review documentation and test reports

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
 
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current TS clearance 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in systems integration and systems engineering
  • Experience in space-ground systems architecture and lifecycle support
  • Good knowledge and proven experience with space-ground testing activities
  • Experience participating in Operational Assessments
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing
  • Experience with cloud based environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with DOORS, Cameo, JIRA and Test Management Tool (e.g. ZephyrScale)
  • Experience with STK, MATLAB, ModelCenter
  • Experience using model based system engineering concepts
  • Experience participating at the Agile Scrum level for sprint planning
  • Experience with DevSecOps development methodologies.
  • Understanding of Software Build process and the CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous delivery) environment
  • Experience developing test automation scripts (e.g. Cucumber/Gherkin, Python)
  • Understanding of space systems design, integration and test requirements, and test execution, including test equipment support.

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
