SAIC is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our energized team to support the Department of Air Force’s (DAF) mission to establish and maintain the Advanced Battle Management System’s (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure (DI) through the ABMS DI Consortium. ABMS is the Air Force’s latest effort to create a next-generation command and control (C2) system and is a top modernization priority for the DAF. ABMS will be the backbone of a network-centric approach to battle management in partnership with all the services across the Department of Defense. The broader effort known as the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) is focused rapid integration of capabilities and modernizing the decision-making processes for combat operations.

To accomplish the DAF’s mission, the government in partnership with the ABMS DI Consortium will develop a digital infrastructure that connects the joint warfighting force, enables sharing of information across the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, joint allies, partners and multi-domains and provide decision superiority to tactical, operational and strategic customers. The DI Consortium is comprised of industry leaders in systems engineering, digital engineering, model-based systems engineering, cyber security, integration & test and operations and sustainment working together in a collaborative environment to delivery critical capabilities to the government. This is a Full Time hybrid role. Work will be performed 4 days a week at the Arlington office with 1 day of remote work.

The Lead Systems Engineer will work within the consortium environment to perform the following:

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for the systems engineering integrated product team
  • Lead and facilitate technical information exchange in support of consortium objectives
  • Develop a consolidated systems engineering approach to developing program capabilities
  • Decompose and allocate requirements to system functions, develop required interface definition documents, conduct systems trades, and manage requirement databases
  • Develop and maintain digital system architecture, models, and architecture standards of the ABMS using agile development processes.
  • Define systems engineering tasks and methodology for the program and coordinate activities across the other integrated product teams
  • Perform trade studies and technology roadmap development as directed by the Chief Engineer
  • Manage the technical baseline change control board and maintain overall configuration management of the system to include supply chain risk management.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • DoD Secret clearance: ability to obtain DoD Top Secret SCI
  • Bachelor’s degree and fourteen (14) years of experience in Systems Engineering and MBSE. Masters and twelve (12) years of experience. PhD and nine (9) years or more experience. Will consider additional years of experience in lieu of education
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a dynamic, fast paced, team oriented environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working JADC2 initiatives, or other System of Systems highly networked programs
  • Prior experience working on USAF rapid capability programs
  • Experience or familiarity with multiple Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) for system engineering and/or software development
  • Experience with system engineering and software tools (Cameo, DOORs, Confluence, Jira, Git)
  • Experience with system engineering of cloud based applications and platforms
