SAIC is seeking a Systems Integration Manager to join our team in support of the S3I program in Huntsville, AL.

SAIC is supporting the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) in continuation of the Improved Data Modem (IDM) sustainment and development.  The IDM is a communication device for the Army rotorcraft digital fleet. It is an Airworthy hardware and software system.  The S3I is supporting software sustainment for fielded IDM systems and an update to transition to the Aviation Mission Common Server multi-core processor (MCP) implementation of IDM.  The S3I is developing the MCP Operating Environment (OE) and the IDM Software Application (ISA). 

As the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Engineer Lead you will guide and ensure successful execution of the ongoing software development using Agile/Dev Ops methodology. The SEIT Lead will oversee a diverse team of systems, software, and integration & verification (I&V) engineers in this software development effort.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Mentor team members and lead the SEIT engineers to ensure new technical solutions can be deployed to fielded systems to support the warfighter
  • Experience in System Engineering process development and deployment
  • Develop requirements and specifications
  • Perform interface definition and manage execution of integration and test activities
  • Ensure appropriate engineering rigor is applied to the design and development of the IDM software
  • Support design and other reviews
  • Develop and maintain the program's Test Plan to include end-to-end and interface test planning
  • Lead identification and engineering oversight of Risk Reduction activities
  • Work collaboratively with and across technical teams to ensure appropriate test procedures are established
  • Assess options for test equipment, hardware, software and facilities for streamlined yet robust approaches to ensure the deployed system will perform its designed requirements and mission objectives
  • Ensure test activities are properly represented and tracked in program plans and schedules
  • Perform enterprise-level trade studies with respect to test environments, including tools and equipment
  • Observe and /or participate in systems/segment integration, V&V planning and execution and examine test results to define successful performance and / or develop plans for corrective actions and re-testing
  • Participate in design reviews and control gates to assess viability of verification and validation plans, including testability

Qualifications

Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science and 14+ years of experience

Required Clearance: Must have an Interim Secret Clearance to start with the ability to obtain a full Secret Clearance.

Required Skills/Experince:

  • Proven record of developing/implementing action plans to improve organization performance
  • Experience in System Engineering process development and deployment
  • Ability to quickly develop working knowledge across diverse technical areas

  • Demonstrated ability providing leadership and functional direction for overall systems engineering, integration, and test (SEIT) efforts
  • Lead and manage the IDM Systems Engineering and Test Sections, developing a robust employee development capability
  • Experience in Systems Engineering process development and deployment
  • Have excellent organization and troubleshooting skills and be proficient in understanding hardware/software design, requirements generation, product development, test execution, and verification activities
  • Experience ensuring the physical and functional compatibility of sophisticated systems throughout the full lifecycle of the program
  • Experience interacting with system/segment developers and engineers to ensure mission requirements are satisfied
  • Demonstrated ability to get results from teams without direct authority
  • Proven track record of good judgment and programmatic execution vital to meet technical requirements while balancing schedules and budget limitations
  • Experience with DOORS
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with technical and managerial personnel
  • Excellent knowledge of software development methodologies and processes
  • Prior experience leading agile teams
  • Software design and test experience
  • Experience working in a unit-level qualification, test, and requirements verification environment
  • Experience with Hardware in the Loop Testing 
  • Experience with DO-178
