PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) of the NCI focuses its activities on developing novel diagnostics and therapies for cancer. The NCI Experimental Therapeutics (NExT) Program is a targeted cancer therapeutics discovery and development pipeline jointly established and managed by the DCTD and Center for Cancer Research (CCR), NCI. The NExT Program was initiated with a vision to streamline the discovery and development of novel anticancer agents and to bring promising drugs to patients more rapidly, by consolidating and integrating NCI’s anticancer discovery and development resources under a unified governance structure. The Chemical Biology Consortium is a driving force for the discovery component of the NExT Program with its core mission to facilitate the discovery and development of first-in-class anti-tumor agents against specific molecular targets and pathways, through coordinated efforts on target validation, screening, lead optimization, candidate selection, and preclinical development.

The Functional Biology Working Space (FBWS) is another component of the NExT Program, providing the biological expertise and capability to functionally decipher the role of cancer specific genomic aberrations with its mission centered on druggable target discovery/validation and the development of target-specific assays that may be adapted to novel drug screening through integrated functional annotation and analysis of cancer pathways. The NExT Technical Support Biology Division is responsible for providing the DCTD and NExT Program with operational and technical support in implementing the CBC and FBWS Projects in the applicable technical field of applied molecular functional cancer biology, especially pertaining to cancer target validation and novel drug discovery & development.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The incumbent will serve as a Technical Project Manager (TPM), formally known as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR), for the NExT. TPM’s responsibilities include: (1) assessing and determining technical tasks and other performance requirements for the NExT Projects; (2) writing proposal solicitation documents in the form of Statement of Objectives (SOO), Statement of Work (SOW), or other relevant procurement instruments; (3) evaluating technical proposals submitted by SAIC-Frederick subcontractors and making recommendations on subcontractor selection;(4) monitoring and evaluating the subcontractor technical progress; (5) communicating with the technical point of contacts of SAIC-Frederick subcontractors over the issues pertaining to the technical execution of the assigned Tasks; (6) assisting with resolution of technical problems encountered by the subcontractor during performance; (7) providing task management and task reporting for DCTD and/or the assigned NExT Project Teams, as appropriate; (8) As needed, facilitating and managing project team access to the shared resources available at the NCI-Frederick, including the SAIC-Frederick Advanced Technology Program, Core Services, and other user fee-based resources at NCI-Frederick. TPMs belong to the NExT Program funded project teams.

Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Possession of a Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university appropriate to biomedical research. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
- In addition to education requirements, candidates should have a minimum of five (5) years of professional work experience carrying out or involved in innovative research in the field of applied molecular and functional biology, and novel drug discovery, in particular relating to oncology targets.
- Must have demonstrated capability to lead a research project, supervising junior scientists and technical support staff, in a project team setting, and have substantial expertise and experience in the following areas: (1) design, development and validation of high throughput screening (HTS) assays using a variety of assay platforms including but not limited to enzymatic, biochemical, PPI, and cell based assays; (2) implementation of HTS campaigns for hit identification and confirmation; (3) hit to lead optimization in close collaboration with medicinal and synthetic chemists.
- This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

Qualifications:

The primary duties of the position are as follows:

The LASP contributes to improving human health, developing new treatments, and improving existing treatments for cancer and other diseases while ensuring safe and humane treatment of animals.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Animal Program Director oversees animal-based research support programs involving one or more species of laboratory animals maintained in five animal facilities on the NIH campus, including a nonhuman primate facility. This position exercises full management responsibility for issues pertaining to laboratory animal husbandry, health and welfare. Performs managerial, administrative and other duties relating to program and animal holding facility operations including staffing, procurement, and budgeting. Directs or administers veterinary medical, diagnostic, surgical and clinical treatment procedures to various species, which in addition to rodents and nonhuman primates, may include dogs and pigs. Establishes guidelines and administers procedures to ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations and standards to maintain AAALAC accreditation of the animal care and use program. Represents the organization on various NIH animal care-related committees.

Exercises oversight of the Laboratory Animal Medicine office and supervises animal facility management personnel and veterinary staff including animal program veterinarians. Directs training programs for animal caretakers, technicians and research staff utilizing research animals. Provides consultative services to scientific and technical personnel pertaining to the selection and use of animals, development or evaluation of animal research protocols or production facilities, and in-depth evaluation of the relationships of animal disease to research programs. Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Graduation from a veterinary school accredited by the AVMA (e.g. D.V.M. or V.M.D.) or satisfactory completion of the foreign equivalency examination (passing grade) given by the AVMA. Minimum of ACLAM board eligibility/certification. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is for an experienced systems analyst in support of Navy Medicine Enterprise Information Assurance (EIA) Incident Response and Security Support Teams. The analyst will be required to have in-depth knowledge of all facets Department of Defense policies and procedures as they relate to the Navy Medicine Enterprise. Qualifications:

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides quality health care to patients/subjects participating in research studies and/or protocols. Conducts comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations and follow-ups; manages inpatients and outpatients with complex and difficult multi-systems aspects; provides counsel and education to patients and family members; and provides diagnostic and therapeutic services. The NP orders and interprets laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, writes and orders prescriptions. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings and evaluates findings that require referral to other health professionals within or outside of the organization. Develops, implements and modifies (if needed) a plan for care, including appropriate patient and family counseling and education based on in-depth knowledge of the specific patient populations and/or protocols. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Post Doctoral Fellow will conduct research related to the reformulation of small molecule drugs using nanotechnology platforms, and evaluation of these formulations in appropriate animal models.

Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Possession of a Doctoral degree from an accredited college/university in a field related to pharmaceutical science, medicinal chemistry, or chemistry. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
- No work experience is required beyond the education requirement, however candidates should have experience/knowledge of drug formulation with the requisite analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, DSC, DLS/Zetasizer XRD spectroscopy, SEM, GPC).
- Contributions to the field of drug development and/or nanomedicine as evidenced by authoring and co-authoring publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and/or by presenting papers at national/international scientific conferences.
- This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in nanotechnology drug reformulation, specifically background in formulation of polymeric nanoparticles.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position will work closely with the SAIC-F Director to assist the Director in oversight, monitoring, analyzing, reporting and coordinating the operational aspects of SAIC-Frederick’s support of DCTD programs in chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacodynamic assays, in vitro toxicology, preclinical drug formulation, project management, and related subcontracted activities. Identify, analyze, and develop/propose solutions for troubleshooting operational and organizational issues in real time. Monitor and coordinate complex timelines and schedules relative to multidisciplinary program goals and deliverables, and recommend operational strategies and changes. Assist the Director in determining best courses of action in collaboration with the NCI, and implement plans with follow-up control points to monitor effectiveness of operational changes. Provide operational information to program managers in way that is helpful and report on/provide feedback about the impact of operational changes. Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Possession of a Doctoral degree (e.g., D.V.M., D.Sc., M.D., or Ph.D.) from an accredited college or university in Pharmacology or in a related discipline to therapeutics such as Chemistry, Physiology, Biochemistry. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Monitoring Research Program (CMRP) is responsible for providing quality Nurse Practitioner clinical research services in support to the National Cancer Institute's Experimental Transplantation and Immunology Branch (ETIB) for activities conducted in out-patient and in-patient clinics.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Support services include various negotiable shift schedules (8, 10, or 12 hours) primarily day shift with occasional weekends and backup coverage for night shift. Work performed in conjunction with a multidisciplinary clinical team providing comprehensive health care to patients in a research environment. The NP will complete physical examinations and in-depth documentation through written progress notes, dictation summaries, and communication with referring physicians according to medical record documentation requirements. Participate in clinical rounds and conferences. Order, perform and interpret basic laboratory diagnostic/treatment tests and procedures. Develop and implement a plan for care, including appropriate patient/family counseling and education based on in-depth knowledge of the specific patient populations and/or protocols. Independently evaluate patients in both the inpatient and outpatient clinic settings. Liaise with SAIC-Frederick and various NCI staff to initiate and complete tasks relating to medicine and clinical protocols, and all activities related to nursing. Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Synthetic transactions running against bespoke .net web applications

- Work through overrides where applicable with customer

- Create central dashboard views for servers being monitored by SCOM

- End to End testing of new services implemented

- Skills transfer with technical teams and document / log all changes

- Mail Expertise: Exchange 5.5, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010 Client Monitoring, Operations Manager Security, Monitoring VMware Servers, Monitoring Non-Windows Devices
