<item><title>Senior Scientist 320167 (NCI) Job (Frederick, MD, US)</title><description><![CDATA[Senior Scientist 320167 (NCI)   (Job Number:320167)<br/><br/><b>Description:</b><br/><br/><br/><br/>PROGRAM DESCRIPTION<br/><br/>The Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) of the NCI focuses its activities on developing novel diagnostics and therapies for cancer. The NCI Experimental Therapeutics (NExT) Program is a targeted cancer therapeutics discovery and development pipeline jointly established and managed by the DCTD and Center for Cancer Research (CCR), NCI.  The NExT Program was initiated with a vision to streamline the discovery and development of novel anticancer agents and to bring promising drugs to patients more rapidly, by consolidating and integrating NCI&#8217;s anticancer discovery and development resources under a unified governance structure.  The Chemical Biology Consortium is a driving force for the discovery component of the NExT Program with its core mission to facilitate the discovery and development of first-in-class anti-tumor agents against specific molecular targets and pathways, through coordinated efforts on target validation, screening, lead optimization, candidate selection, and preclinical development.<br/><br/>The Functional Biology Working Space (FBWS) is another component of the NExT Program, providing the biological expertise and capability to functionally decipher the role of cancer specific genomic aberrations with its mission centered on druggable target discovery/validation and the development of target-specific assays that may be adapted to novel drug screening through integrated functional annotation and analysis of cancer pathways.  The NExT Technical Support Biology Division is responsible for providing the DCTD and NExT Program with operational and technical support in implementing the CBC and FBWS Projects in the applicable technical field of applied molecular functional cancer biology, especially pertaining to cancer target validation and novel drug discovery & development.<br/><br/>JOB DESCRIPTION<br/><br/>The incumbent will serve as a Technical Project Manager (TPM), formally known as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR), for the NExT.  TPM&#8217;s responsibilities include: (1) assessing and determining technical tasks and other performance requirements for the NExT Projects; (2) writing proposal solicitation documents in the form of Statement of Objectives (SOO), Statement of Work (SOW), or other relevant procurement instruments; (3) evaluating technical proposals submitted by SAIC-Frederick subcontractors and making recommendations on subcontractor selection;(4) monitoring and evaluating the subcontractor technical progress; (5) communicating with the technical point of contacts of SAIC-Frederick subcontractors over the issues pertaining to the technical execution of the assigned Tasks; (6) assisting with resolution of technical problems encountered by the subcontractor during performance; (7) providing task management and task reporting for DCTD and/or the assigned NExT Project Teams, as appropriate; (8) As needed, facilitating and managing project team access to the shared resources available at the NCI-Frederick, including the SAIC-Frederick Advanced Technology Program, Core Services, and other user fee-based resources at NCI-Frederick.  TPMs belong to the NExT Program funded project teams.<br/><br/><b>Qualifications:</b><br/>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS<br/><br/>-  Possession of a Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university appropriate to biomedical research.
