JOB DESCRIPTION: The PEO IWS Engineering Support Services (ESS) contract/program is looking for an intern to perform the following activities in support of PEO IWS 1.0, Integrated Combat Systems, activities in ESS Tasks 1 (General ESS (Strategic Planning, System Engineering, Product Development, Fleet Readiness) ), Task 2 (Ships Integration and Test), and Task 4 (Foreign Military Sales).

Specifically: Internship work will performed at both SAIC site and PEO IWS facilities in the Washington Navy Yard under supervision of SAIC Team support to gain hands-on experience while working with engineering teams to evaluate and analyze customer needs, objectives, and requirements for Combat Systems Integration. Qualifications:

Provide analytical support to the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation. Mid-level (not senior, not junior) analyst with intelligence policy, strategy, and interagency nuclear counterterrorism expertise. Experience with DOE/NNSA-related offices and other intelligence governmental department stakeholders in the field of nuclear science -- detection, smuggling, forensics. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Enterprise & Mission Information Technology Business Unit currently has an opening for a Senior Engineer to support a US Government customer on site in Washington DC. This individual will conduct vulnerability assessment across the entire customer IT enterprise in support of operations and maintenance activities. This activity includes scanning and analyzing the Common Share sub-network infrastructure, as well as systems directly connected to the Internet, on a regular basis. Analysis (scanning) shall be conducted both internally (inside the network perimeter) and externally (originating outside the network perimeter). Assess and identify areas of vulnerabilities, including but not limited to remediation recommendations, of the customer’s border firewalls. Track and document threats using information from both open and closed sources, as they concern known vulnerabilities in systems and applications used in the IT environment and infrastructure. Using information gathered during vulnerability assessments, maintain a regularly updated list of threats and possible vulnerabilities that could pose a risk to the IT infrastructure and associated systems. Perform application-level vulnerability assessments of Internet-facing systems. This assessment shall also include assessing the vulnerabilities of all of the servers and applications, backend database applications that accept input through middleware, middleware and applications and operating systems that respond to Internet requests from external IP addresses.

Qualifications

Must have highly developed writing and editing skills and be able to re-write material to fit defined document templates and standards. The candidate must have the ability to work collaboratively with technical staff to produce quality documents for delivery to a variety of clients, and implement and communicate effective internal review procedures for ensuring high quality deliverables to the customer. Experience MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including formatting techniques is required. Desirable candidate skills include excellent communication skills, technical competence, and strong organizational skills.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with Active Directory tools, virtualization tools (e.g., VMware), Microsoft SharePoint 2010, and Microsoft Visio a plus but not required. Ability to assist in continuous improvement efforts by providing on-going technical writing guidance. Ability to create graphics for presentations, proposals, and deliverables is a plus.

The Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group is seeking UMD Engineering Interns for the Lifetime Sea Loads Data Processing internship project.

Interns will develop and implement an efficient, flexible and scalable process for automation of the determination of lifetime sea loads from a collection of time-domain runs. Will have an opportunity to understand the physics and statistical theory behind lifetime sea loads estimation; understand the current methods for post-processing and their limitations; develop a plan for more efficient and scalable process; and then implement and test the process.

The internship will provide the candidate with a valuable opportunity to work with a skilled team of engineers and scientists in a cutting edge fields. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university and have completed two years of college level course work.

Qualifications:

Requirements: Current UMD students (sophomores and above) pursuing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Must have basic programming experience. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is desired. Candidate must be able to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance which requires US citizenship.
